Users have two options for creating applications – a canvas model and a data-driven model.
The canvas model creates applications using a blank virtual canvas on which the user places individual components via drag-and-drop. The components can then be connected via more than 350 different connectors, giving the canvas model a high degree of flexibility. At the same time it is a very intuitive and clear way of development.
The model-driven model is based on a so-called common data service (Dataverse) or secure data repository. From this repository, the model-driven approach then adopts standardised data and entities covering typical user scenarios. Although this model is less intuitive than the canvas approach, it allows the creation of significantly more sophisticated applications running complex logical operations. They are also more responsive and adapt better to the target device.

Yes, you do. But the good news is that the Power Apps licence is included with all Microsoft 365 licensing plans. There is also a premium licence that is required for more advanced application features (e.g., connecting to external data sources via SQL).

Yes, it does. But you can only use Power Automate tools in this context within Power Apps, or the data flows must use the same data as Power Apps. If you need to use Power Automate for external flows, you cannot do without purchasing a separate Power Automate licence.
With the self-purchase model, Power Apps can be purchased by any organisation – all you need to do is visit the admin. centre of your Microsoft 365 solution (as long as the licence purchase option is enabled by your administrator). All purchases are monitored and can of course be easily tracked by your IT department.
